In this class, we will work on the basic movements and steps that form the foundation for all styles of bellydance: hip slides, chest circles, figure 8s, shimmies, and more! In particular, we will focus on the posture, carriage, and skeletal and muscular movements that shape our dance. Differences in styles of bellydance (Egyptian, FCBD Style ®, Fusion) will be noted. In each class, we'll also put our movements into combinations that will create a choreography ready to perform!
Fusion Bellydance - Intermediate/Advanced
In this mixed-level class, we will work on different isolations, movements, and layering that comprise the core of bellydance, blending Egyptian (Oriental), FCBD Style ®, and fusion stylings. We will then work on putting these into a choreography. For our Spring 2020 Session, we'll work on a slow, ooey-gooey "sea creatures"-inspired choreography.
Fat Chance Belly Dance (FCBD) Style ® - Level 1
Come get your Fat Chance ® on! Founded as ATS ® by Carolena Nericcio, FCBD Style ® is the original format for group improvisational choreography in which dancers use a common set of cues and movements to communicate with each other and create a dance on the spot. We'll learn the Level 1 and 1+ movement vocabulary, cues, zill patterns, and formations that will get you up and dancing with your fellow FCBD Style ® dancers!
Fat Chance Belly Dance (FCBD) Style ® - Levels 2-3
Building on our foundations from Level 1, we'll continue on our journey learning Levels 2-3 of FCBD Style ® format. Each week we'll learn new movements and cues, practice our zills, and drill previously learned movements & combos. We'll discuss (as best we can online!) the different formations and how to put together a FCBD Style ® set for performance.
